Dental Crowns Lincoln

Diagram of dental bridge in Lincoln, NEDo you have a missing or fractured tooth? Do you struggle to comfortably eat, speak, or socialize because of your smile? Dental crowns and bridges are common treatments that restore broken, damaged, or missing teeth. At Antelope Creek Family Dentistry in Lincoln, NE, we offer custom-made zirconia crowns and dental bridges.

What Are Dental Crowns and Bridges?

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that covers a decayed, weak, damaged, misshapen, or discolored tooth. It restores comfortable chewing function and protects your natural tooth from further damage, decay, or infection, while also guarding the integrity of your root.

A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth in a row to complete your smile and restore function. As the name implies, a dental bridge literally "bridges" the gap in your smile. Two dental crowns accompany a dental bridge and act as anchors on healthy abutment teeth.

At Antelope Creek Family Dentistry, we offer two types of dental bridges: traditional fixed bridges and implant-supported bridges. A traditional bridge uses crowns as anchors, while an implant-supported bridge uses dental implants.

Benefits of Dental Crowns and Bridges

Restoring broken or missing teeth is more than dental work—it's about regaining comfort and confidence and maintaining oral health. Our crown and bridge solutions are designed to provide aesthetic appeal and practical functionality.

Natural-Looking Smile

We carefully design custom-crafted crowns and bridges to match your natural tooth color, shape, and size. Using advanced materials and techniques, we ensure your restoration blends seamlessly with your smile, making it virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

Restored Function

Beyond aesthetics, our dental restorations restore your ability to eat comfortably and speak clearly. Each crown or bridge is precisely fitted to your bite, ensuring proper alignment and maximum comfort while helping maintain the overall health and function of surrounding teeth.

Lasting Protection

When cared for properly, our high-quality crowns and bridges are built to last. Using the highest-quality materials and precise placement techniques, our dentists can restore damaged teeth and prevent further dental issues, offering a reliable, long-term solution for your smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tooth decay is an oral health condition that usually starts as a minor infection on the surfaces of your teeth and gums. With regular dental visits and cleanings, these conditions are manageable and even reversible. However, when a tooth infection progresses, it also grows, and through chemical processes, the bacteria that cause tooth decay may bore holes in your tooth enamel.

Again, a cavity has a simple solution, but if you ignore it, it may cause such extensive tooth damage that you require a complete tooth restoration called a dental crown. A dental crown resembles a tooth but functions more like a helmet for your compromised tooth. You need a dental crown in Lincoln, NE when no other type of tooth restoration will do the job.

What Tooth Problems Do Dental Crowns Fix?

Because a dental crown completely covers your tooth, we only recommend it in some instances, which include:

In each of these cases, you may lose your tooth entirely unless we take timely action. Dental crowns save teeth which is why our Lincoln, NE, will recommend them when necessary.

Yes, replacing a missing tooth is crucial even when there's no pain. The lack of discomfort doesn't mean problems aren't developing beneath the surface that could affect your long-term oral health.

Why Tooth Replacement Matters

When a tooth is missing, nearby teeth gradually shift into the space, affecting your entire mouth. This movement can lead to bite misalignment and difficulty chewing. You are also at increased risk of decay and gum disease as teeth become harder to clean properly.

Tooth Replacement in Lincoln, NE

At Antelope Creek Dentistry, your trusted dentist in Lincoln, NE, we offer several solutions to restore your smile's function and aesthetics:

  • Dental bridges span the missing tooth gap, using adjacent teeth as anchors while restoring your smile's appearance and chewing functionality. They're fixed in place, providing stability and comfort.
  • Removable partial dentures fill the gaps in your smile and help maintain proper spacing between remaining teeth. Modern dentures are more comfortable and natural-looking than ever before.
  • Dental implants are the most natural-feeling, long-term solution for replacing teeth and their root structures. The titanium posts integrate with the jawbone and prevent deterioration while supporting a custom-crafted crown above the gumline.

Have a Missing Tooth? We Can Help!

Don't wait until tooth problems develop or existing issues worsen. Visit one of our two convenient Lincoln locations on Normal Blvd or 40th St to discuss which tooth replacement option best suits your needs, lifestyle, and budget.

When Are Dental Crowns and Bridges Needed?

Dental crowns are versatile, and our dentists in Lincoln, NE, use them to correct numerous oral health and aesthetic concerns, including:

  • Severe tooth decay
  • A cracked tooth
  • Teeth weakened by root canal therapy
  • Broken or fractured teeth
  • Cracked or broken dental fillings
  • Large silver amalgam fillings
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Severely discolored or stained teeth
  • Teeth with size or shape discrepancies

A dental bridge fills in the space left behind by missing adjacent teeth. Usually made of a single unit, a dental bridge is held in place by crowns attached to the remaining teeth on each side of the gap. A dental bridge can improve your appearance, restore chewing function, and prevent surrounding teeth from shifting into the space left behind by the missing teeth.

What Does Getting a Crown or Bridge Involve?

At Antelope Creek Family Dentistry, we can usually place a dental crown or traditional bridge in two or three appointments.

First, we prepare the natural tooth to receive the crown and take an impression of your smile. The impression is a precise mapping of your oral cavity and teeth, so we can ensure your restoration fits perfectly.

Next, we send your impressions to our dental lab partners, where skilled technicians create your custom restoration. Creating your custom crown or bridge can take about two weeks. In the meantime, we fit you with a temporary restoration until the lab's handiwork is complete.

When we receive the final restoration from the lab, we schedule a return appointment to evaluate the final crown or bridge for your comfort. During this visit, we make any adjustments to guarantee you'll love your new restoration.

Finally, we cement your final restoration in place, and you're ready to enjoy your new and improved smile.

Your dentist will also give you instructions for dental crown or bridge care. Though you can practice regular oral hygiene habits, taking special care is essential to prevent damage or possible replacement of your crown or bridge. Excellent oral hygiene and routine dental checkups will ensure your restoration lasts many years.

Implant-Supported Bridges in Lincoln, NE

An implant-supported bridge requires more time to complete. The tooth implants need a few months to heal and integrate with your bone through a process called osseointegration. This healing time allows the implants to become part of your dental anatomy, much like a tooth root, so they provide more stability, strength, and longevity to your restoration.

Our dentists work with a trusted specialist for implant placement but will be here to guide you through the process every step of the way.

Beyond stabilizing your restoration, dental implants also stimulate your jawbone, keeping it healthy and protecting it from the deterioration that often accompanies tooth loss.

Modern, High-Quality Tooth Restorations

Everyone wants a beautiful, healthy smile, and our team of restorative dentistry experts can help you reach this goal with our high-quality dental crowns and bridges. Dental bridges and tooth crowns in Lincoln, NE, are custom-made to fit precisely, complement your smile, and look natural.

We use zirconia crowns because they resemble natural enamel and are durable. We also use state-of-the-art technology and techniques to enhance patient comfort, accelerate treatment, and ensure optimal outcomes.
