How often does my child need to see the dentist?

How often does my child need to see the dentist?

No matter their age, all patients should see our dentists in Lincoln, NE every six months for dental cleanings and exams. Most dentists agree with this schedule because it allows for early diagnosis and promotes healthier teeth and gums.

If you or your child are diagnosed with a specific condition, the dentist may recommend a more frequent schedule.

Your child’s dental visit includes a visual exam of the teeth and gums. In very young children, we also monitor early development. Periodically, the pediatric dentist takes x-rays if we suspect an underlying condition like a root cavity.

The dentist may recommend advanced preventive measures like dental sealants or fluoride treatments to strengthen teeth and lessen cavity risks.

When age-appropriate, we also provide professional teeth cleanings to rid your child’s teeth of tartar, one of the leading causes of tooth decay.

Finally, we set aside time to answer your questions and share our findings. We can also provide tips for at-home care and help your child eventually transition to independent brushing.
