The holiday season is filled with joy and laughter, but it’s also one of the busiest times of the year. With so much to see and do, you probably aren’t giving much thought to your expiring dental insurance benefits.
We understand how hectic November and December can be, so we’d like to remind you to make smart smile moves by using your 2025 dental benefits before they expire.
Dental Insurance Terms You Need to Know
At the end of the calendar year, most dental insurance covers resets, so essentially, if you don’t use your remaining coverage, you lose it!
It’s important to understand these terms so you can get the most from your hard-earned dollars:
- Deductible — This is the amount you must pay before your insurance begins to pay for part or all of your dental treatment. If you’ve met your deductible, now is a great time to schedule treatments.
- Annual maximum — This is the most your dental insurance will pay for treatments in a calendar year, so if you still have remaining funds, you should try to use them before you lose them.
The Best Ways to Use Your 2025 Dental Benefits
There are some simple things you can do to use your 2025 dental benefits before December 31.
Here’s what we recommend:
- Schedule preventive visits — Most insurance companies pay 100% for preventive care, including exams, cleanings, and x-rays, so if it has been more than six months since your last checkup, call us right away!
- Schedule other treatments — If you need a filling, crown, or other dental treatment, make an appointment before the end of the year, especially if you have money left toward your annual maximum and you’ve met your deductible. You can even begin treatment in 2025 and complete treatment in 2026 to use your benefits from both years.
